Episode 7: QuickBooks 2010 Document Management
Join me as I explore one of the most intriguing new features of QuickBooks 2010, a built-in document management system. This new feature allows you to scan a document (a bill from a vendor for example) and attach it to a transaction in QuickBooks (the bill as entered into the program). It then allows you to pull up that original source document that was scanned in directly from the transaction screen. It’s a great idea, but did Intuit get the implementation right? Watch the video and then let me know what you think of this new feature.

Hi there! I'm Mike. I am a CPA and an Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. I teach QuickBooks locally in classrooms and do one-on-one training sessions. I created this site so I could extend my teaching to more people and offer them the best support possible.

I watched your video…the scanned docs are actually also stored locally they just dont tell you about that feature…use the scnner button – edit – destination then uncheck the setting that says delete local files when finished sending to destinatin….you can also just use the QB scanner button and choose save button and name a local destination…unfortunatley scanned docs only link when uploaded but you can have your own local backup if you choose and if you name your scanned docs properly you will be able to search for them based on a tag like amount or name
Thanks for the additional info! I’m still hoping that Intuit improves this feature as I don’t think it’s a really good value as it stands now. I would love to see a lower price for storage and some features for easily exporting the stored documents.
Uploading accounting documents to the web? … not sure…, pdf files can be password protected though.
